Golf Lesson for Juniors

After being introduced to golf by friends after almost two decades of being a head basketball coach, I decided to pick up the game. I immediately fell in love with the game. I believe for me it was the individual challenge. No teammates to blame nor depend upon. It was just me! So I began playing, if I can truly call it that. However, I skipped what I believe now is the most important part, which is learning how to play the game and proper golf course decorum. Not just to learn how to swing a golf club, but to learn the multitude of complicated rules. Plus, I am sure that the number of golf balls that I lost would have more than paid for a few lessons. So I took lessons, and it was the worst training experience that I had ever experienced at the time. It was at that moment that I decided that I would learn as much as I could about the game at the academic level. So after retiring from the Air Force, I decided to attend the Golf Academy of America, Orlando Campus. After receiving my degree in Golf Operations and Management with my focus in Instruction, I received my first job as the Teaching Pro and Asst. Pro at Andrews AFB, MD. After a season there in 2014, I set out on my own. I wanted to create for my clients, the type of science and analytics backed type of instruction that I received throughout my degree program.

Golf Lesson for Adults

Adult instruction at 7 Coach Golf focuses on simplifying what has become inconsistent over time. Many players arrive with habits formed through self-teaching or fragmented lessons, so the first step is identifying what is actually producing the current ball flight. Frame-by-Frame Swing Feedback is used to isolate key positions in the swing, allowing players to see where timing, alignment, or sequencing begins to break down without overloading them with technical detail. This shifts understanding from assumption to direct visual reference. From there, Simulator Practice Sessions connect mechanical adjustments to real-time outcomes. Ball flight, spin, and distance data provide immediate confirmation of what is changing, reducing dependence on feel alone and helping players make clearer decisions during practice. Golf Movement Training is then applied where needed to restore mobility, stability, and rotational control, particularly for players returning after long gaps or dealing with reduced consistency. Coach Young draws on a structured teaching background shaped through athletic coaching and formal golf education. Sessions are adjusted to fit the adult learner’s time constraints and ability to process information efficiently. The goal is not to rebuild everything at once, but to identify the few adjustments that produce the most meaningful change. Over time, players develop a clearer understanding of their swing tendencies and build the ability to self-correct during practice and play without constant external input.
